Art On The Road

Golden Artist Educator Wendy Walls, has expanded her series "Art on the Road" workshops for 2012, following the outstanding success of workshops in Auckland, Manawatu, Coromandel and the Waikato.

The workshops are supported by GORDON HARRIS ART SUPPLIES. Halls, local Art group venues, cafes or school classrooms can be used as classrooms so you can arrange your own group venue or attend the workshops already scheduled.

Traditional watercolorists and seasoned oil painters will be be introduced to new techniques with colour and texture using a variety of acrylic mediums such as gels, pastes, fluid acrylics, metallic and a variety of other art products.

"GIVE IT A GO" workshops are inspirational for those who have not put brush to paper since their school days.
All art materials are supplied; just bring an art apron and lunch.

The Garden Design School (Auckland)

The Garden Design School, set up by Robyn Laurenson of Laurenson Landscape Design, runs 8 week part-time courses during the school term teaching garden owners to design their own gardens. Classes are held one morning or evening a week in central Auckland.

These courses give garden owners the opportunity to transform their gardens while maintaining control of the entire process. They are do-it-your-self, project-based courses. Morag Stokes' Acrylic Adventures Workshops (Wellington)

This one day workshop aims to give artists, from hobbyists to professionals, an overview of the extensive artists' acrylic products and their creative possibilities available from leading manufacturer Golden. Learning is through demonstration, discussion and practical exercises designed to inspire your creativity using paint, gels, pastes and mediums to make four small art works. You will use traditional and subtractive techniques using open acrylics, play with fluid and airbrush acrylics in wet gels, and work with pastes, acrylic skins and digital grounds. You will also learn about using iridescent and interference paints and what part organic and inorganic pigments play in the mixing of clear, bright colour.

Continuing Education classes in Children's Book Illustration:
Part One: Character development- learning process and technique of creating a character and making a 3D model of your character (6 weeks) Thurs 8 March -12 April 7-9pm.
Part Two: Storyboarding, pagination, composition and making a 'dummy book' (6 weeks) Thurs 26 April - 31 May 7-9pm.

Sandra gained her MFA from Elam School of Fine Arts where she majored in book illustration and printmaking. She then went on to study for a post grad diploma in Plant and Wildlife illustration at Newcastle University, NSW, Australia. Sandra is also an award winning author /illustrator of children's books. Most of her books have a natural history bias. She has worked in publishing most of her working life as a designer and illustrator and then moved on to part time tutoring at Massey College of Design for five years.
