For thin films, OPEN Acrylics remain workable for approximately 10 times longer than Golden Heavy Body Acrylics – anywhere between 40 minutes to 3 hours, depending on colour, thickness and the weather. If you want to speed up the drying, you can use a hairdryer or combine with regular Golden Acrylic colours and mediums.\r\n\r\nDOES NOT FORM A SKIN - Dollops of paint on your palette remain wet and ready to use for over a day, dramatically reduing wasted paint. Like oil paint, you can mix up all your colours before you start painting.\r\n\r\nTHE SWEET SPOT - Initially, OPEN has a rather slick and greasy feeling under the brush, but as paint dries and loses some water it gradually thickens, forming a stiffer more oil-like feel. Along this gradient, painters will find what is often termed the SWEET SPOT that suits their particular tecnhique. Once located, it is possible to control and maintain those qualities, something that oil painters have long enjoyed but has been previously unavailable to acrylic painters.\r\n\r\nLOOKS DIFFERENT - The colours are rich and beautiful, with a slightly lower sheen than Golden Heavy Body.\r\nTo achieve their extended working time and unique characteristics, OPEN are engineered with less pigment in wet state, but they dry with a higher pigment to binder ratio than other Golden colours.\r\nMixing with OPEN mediums will produce a gloss surface, or this can be adjusted later by varnishing (wait at least 30 days).\r\n\r\nThe slow drying nature of OPEN makes it possible to use witn natural hair brushes, which are quickly destroyed by regular acrylic. Brushes are easy to clean, even if you have unintentionally left them out. \r\nWet-on-wet blending and softening with black sable brushes is no longer just for oil painting, in fact it is easier to layer up OPEN wet-on-wet without muddying the colour, than it is with oil colour.\r\n\r\nGolden OPEN may be blended with regular Golden Acrylic colours and mediums to control consistency and working time. \r\n\r\nGolden OPEN is a great first paint – alot easier than oil and more forgiving than acrylic, but it is also an important new paint for:\r\nArtists who struggle with the fast drying times characteristic of acrylics.\r\nArtists who want a greater range of control over their materials.\r\nOil painters who would rather use acrylics for safety and convenience, but find it difficult.\r\nArtists and instructors who value the versatility, ease of use, and low waste. \r\n\r\n\u003ciframe width=\"560\" height=\"315\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/-8kWhllUAoc\" title=\"YouTube video player\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" allowfullscreen\u003e\u003c\/iframe\u003e","brand":"GOLDEN","offers":[{"title":"SET","offer_id":42505270362171,"sku":"GN0055","price":69.99,"currency_code":"NZD","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0618\/7299\/6411\/files\/GN0055_2.jpg?v=1759872196"},{"product_id":"golden-fluid-acrylic-paint-intro-set","title":"Golden Fluid Acrylic Paint Intro Set","description":"Golden Fluid Acrylic Intro Set containing 6 x 30ml colours.\r\nColours included in set: Benzimidazalone Yellow Medium, Naphthol Red Light, Ultramarine Blue, Permanent Green Light, Carbon Black and Titanium White.\r\n\r\nThis balanced selection of colours provides an excellent starting point for artists looking to explore Golden Fluid Acrylics.\r\n\r\nFluids are the most versatile paint formula produced by Golden, easily adaptable to a wide range of applications.
