DA VINCI BLACK SABLE FILBERT

Series 1845

With a feel in between bristle and red sable, Black Sable has been favoured since the 19th Century for its strength & softness. It is highly valued for wet-on-wet oilcolour. It is excellent for delicate blending and smoothing out ridges on wet paint layers, so is a favourite among portrait and realist painters. Black Sable is also ideal for use with Golden OPEN Acrylic.

Filberts were developed later in the 19th Century for the renewed interest in blending colour, as the mark from a flat brush in wet paint is too square. Filberts are perfect for blending and cutting in.

Seamless, nickel-plated brass ferrules set on long, polished handles give these brushes durability and perfect balance.

A rule of thumb for selecting oilpainting brushes is: when the surface is dry, use bristle brushes; when wet, use soft brushes. When used on wet surfaces and cared for properly, Black Sable brushes will last for years.
