Ampersand

Ampersand is a small, woman-owned art supply company based in Buda, Texas, and a leader in artist panels. Established in Austin in 1993, the company grew from a business plan built around Claybord, the unique clay-coated panel invented by Colorado artist and inventor Charles Ewing. Elaine Salazar and her classmates from The University of Texas McCombs School of Business won a national business contest with that plan, and it allowed them to launch Ampersand with Charles and Barbara Ewing.

Driven by a commitment to quality and archival principles, Ampersand has since developed eleven surfaces that support every medium, from oils to watercolour, along with a range of Floaterframes designed specifically for panels. Its Museum Series panels are handcrafted in Buda and finished with the exclusive Archiva-Seal™, the only archival sealed panel on the market, making Ampersand a name artists continue to trust.
