Forte brushes are robust and strong, with typical German manufacture ensuring they last longer than many other similar priced brushes. They have a clean, sharp shape and respond well to the artist’s movements. Forte brushes are best suited to painting with heavy body and impasto paints.
Introduced to painting by the Impressionists in the 19th Century, flats are good for dabbing and spreading colour. Flat brushes allow you to cover areas quickly at less cost than large round brushes, though with less reservoir.
