Handmade Christmas Tree Decorations:

You will need:

1. Expression Canvas Cotton

2. Paint

Watercolours (Daniel Smith used in this video, full details below)

Golden Heavy Body Iridescent Bright Gold Acrylic

3. Brushes

da Vinci Casaneo watercolour brushes

4. Pens or markers

Faber Castell Pitt Artist Brush Pens

Copic Multi Liner

Posca acrylic markers

5. Jute String

6. Pencil

7. Scissors

8. Adhesive (optional)

9. Pin for the hole

Directions:

1. Paint the canvas with Daniel Smith Watercolour Ground in Titanium White to turn it into a surface suitable for watercolours.

2. Draw desired shapes onto the canvas with the pencil, remembering to leave room for a hole to tie the string through. Cut the shapes out and trace them onto the remaining canvas to create duplicates, cutting those out with scissors as well. In this video, Clare has made them double layered to add a border to the shape - if you would like to do this then trace around the shapes you've made with a 3mm border, and cut those out as well.

3. Paint the shapes! In this example, Clare has used Daniel Smith watercolours in Duochrome Emerald, Alizarin Crimson, Serpentine Genuine, Bordeaux, Cascade Green, Mayan Yellow and Aureolin, Golden Heavy Body Acrylics in Bright Iridescent Gold, Faber-Castell Pitt Pens in Pink Carmine, Copic Multiliner 0.3mm in Olive, Posca Acrylic Paint Markers in Gold, da Vinci Casaneo brushes in round size 2.

4. Glue the pieces together if using a background piece, then poke a whole in the top, threading the jute string through and tying together in a loop.

5. Hang on the tree for handmagde festive fun!
