NEW Standard in Notebooks from Fabriano

Fabriano: A Fascinating History

Paper has been made on the banks of the River Giano in the small town of Fabriano, Italy since 1264. With ancient know-how handed down through generations, legend has it that the inhabitants of the town learned their craft from Arab prisoners who had been captured while storming the port of Ancona. Many iconic figures in history have used Fabriano papers including Michelangelo and Ludwig Van Beethoven. In 1782 Pietro Miliani conglomerated the Fabriano paper artisans into one name, establishing Fabriano in the form it is today. After a succession of ownership changes, Fabriano celebrated its 750th birthday in 2014, and the city has been named a UNESCO Creative City in 2013 in honour of its rich crafts influence on cultural history. Fabriano are still market-leading innovators today, with their latest range release arriving to our shores and in-store at Gordon Harris now.
